Angel Wings Flyers is a division of Wings 4 Humanity (wings4humanity.org) Its mission is to help those in remote areas of the world. There are times, however, when the call to serve comes right here in our own country.
Angel Flight is the term used by several organizations whose members provide free air transportation for passengers in need of medical treatment far from home. Our organization uses the term Angelwings Flights as AWF( a division of Wings4Humanity.org) is a separate and independent institution from the aforementioned.
“And when we cried unto the Lord, he heard our voice, and sent an angel.” Numbers 20:16
Sometimes God sends an angel and other times He sends people to help. God reveals Himself in all these opportunities. We praise Him when we can be of service in this way.
We have all been touched in some way by those who have fought the battle with cancer. In our hearts, we feel helpless to know how to aid those suffering and struggling for their lives.
AWF and W4H (Wings for Humanity) has provided several Angelwings Flights to cancer patients. The most recent was a dear young woman, wife and mother of three children. Melanie is such a strong woman of faith, trusting in God completely. Her cancer had been misdiagnosed for years while it devastated her body. Now she needed to get to the John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland for chemotherapy and radiation. Eventually she will need neurosurgery that will take approximately 20 hours! Her need was a flight from the Greer, SC airport, KGSB, near her home to Martin State Airport, KMTN in Maryland. Wings for Humanity was privileged to help Melanie with her Angelwings Flights.
Another precious cancer patient who received Angelwings Flights recently is Walter. He is a sweet little two-year-old boy with stage 4 neuroblastoma; a rare type of cancerous tumor that almost always affects children. Walter was diagnosed when he was only 7 months old when his eyes began swelling. A tumor was discovered, and treatment began immediately with emergency radiation. Sadly, the cancer spread quickly and mercilessly. It was recommended that Walter seek treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Traveling over 1,100 miles from his home in Wisconsin would be grueling for little Walter. This was the need and Wings for Humanity was able to answer the call. Walter explored the airplane excitedly the day of his fight. His grandma, Elisa, accompanied him on this first step of the journey to new hope filled treatments.
While some people struggle with their own health, others are greatly affected by the health of their loved ones. A spouse that loses their mate faces loneliness and often confusion of how to go on with their life. This was the case with dear Butch. Both he and his wife contracted Covid 19 and were hospitalized. Butch recovered and went home, but sadly, his wife did not. She died leaving Butch alone after many years of faithful companionship.
Butch’s daughter, Kris, called the office to request prayer for her dad. She explained the situation and shared that she really wanted her dad to come live with her in Durham, NC. Wings for Humanity responded, “Then let’s go get him!” They decided to go pick Butch up in Georgia and bring him here to live with his daughter. It was a beautiful sunny day when they flew the Angelwings Flights for Butch.
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
The blessing of these flights is so apparent in the gratitude shown by each person that is flown. No charge is made for Angelwings Flights. Because of the support of our donors, we can provide these amazing blessings.
